Spending €50 to €100 on one bottle feels like a big step when the drugstore sells 100 ml for €25. This guide to the best fragrances under 100 euros is about that step: what the extra money buys, when it buys nothing, and nine bottles that earn their price.
We sorted the picks by occasion instead of gender. For gender-specific lists, see our best perfumes for men and best perfumes for women. Not sure what you like yet? Take the VYTA fragrance quiz first.

Is a €50–100 fragrance worth it?
The best fragrances under 100 euros are worth it if you’ll wear them often. You usually get more perfume oil per spray, a base that stays on skin for longer and a scent that changes over the day. Part of the price also pays for the brand and the bottle, which do nothing for the smell.
- Higher concentration. Eau de parfum typically holds 15–20% aromatic compounds and eau de toilette around 10%, according to Wikipedia’s overview of perfume. The ranges overlap between brands, so the label is only a rough guide (our eau de parfum vs eau de toilette guide explains more).
- A longer dry-down. Heavier ingredients act as fixatives that slow down the lighter ones, as Encyclopaedia Britannica explains. That base you can still smell at 5pm is where a €80 bottle most often beats a €25 one.
- More layers. Fine perfumes can contain over 100 ingredients, so the scent moves from fresh to warm over the day.
- Refills. YSL Libre and Prada Luna Rossa Carbon both come in refillable versions.
How we picked
To make our list of the best fragrances under 100 euros, every bottle had to pass four checks:
- A real Dutch price: €50–100 for at least one sensible size.
- One clear job: each pick is the right bottle for a specific occasion.
- A deliberate mix: four are marketed to men, four to women and one is unisex. Anyone can wear any of them.
- New to VYTA: nothing from our other guides.
As a student myself, I wanted this list to answer one question honestly: when is spending €50 to €100 on a bottle actually worth it, and when does a cheaper one do the same job?
Prices checked November 2026 at Dutch shops, may vary.

Everyday signature scents
A signature scent has to suit most weather and most rooms. These two are the best fragrances under 100 euros for wearing every day. Our guide on how to find your signature scent shows how to test them.
1. Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt
Notes: ambrette seed, sea salt, sage, grapefruit
Typical price: €67–76 for 30 ml cologne
This smells like a windy afternoon at Scheveningen: salty air, dry grass and driftwood. It reads as neither masculine nor feminine, so it’s easy to share with a partner.
Good to know: as a cologne it lasts three to four hours. You’re paying for the brand more than for wear time.
2. Narciso Rodriguez For Him Bleu Noir (eau de parfum)
Notes: bergamot, pepper, musk, cedarwood, ebony wood, amber
Typical price: €50–79 for 50 ml
Bleu Noir is a clean, dark musk over smooth woods. It sits closer to the skin than the loud “blue” fragrances, and two sprays in the morning are usually still there at dinner.
Good to know: some people struggle to smell musk on themselves. Ask a friend before you decide it’s weak.
For lectures and the office
In a lecture hall or open-plan office, the best fragrances under 100 euros are the ones that stay within arm’s length.
3. Chanel Chance Eau Tendre (eau de toilette)
Notes: grapefruit, jasmine, musk, iris, amber
Typical price: €58 for 35 ml or €80 for 50 ml (on offer)
Eau Tendre is juicy grapefruit and soft jasmine on a powdery musk, like a clean cotton shirt with a slice of fruit. It feels polished without shouting.
Good to know: the 50 ml costs €1.61 per ml and the 35 ml €1.65, so start with the small one.
4. Prada Luna Rossa Carbon (eau de toilette)
Notes: bergamot, pepper, lavender, metallic notes, ambroxan, patchouli
Typical price: €70–85 for 100 ml (list price €116–129)
Carbon is crisp lavender and citrus over a smooth, slightly mineral base. Fans often compare it to Dior Sauvage from our men’s list, but it’s softer and easier to wear in a meeting room.
Good to know: at about €0.80 per ml it’s one of the best-value bottles here.
Date night
After dark, the best fragrances under 100 euros can be sweeter and heavier. People stand closer, and lingering is the point.
5. YSL Black Opium (eau de parfum)
Notes: pear, pink pepper, orange blossom, coffee, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli, cedar
Typical price: €65 for 30 ml; about €86 for 50 ml
Black Opium opens with sweet pear, then turns into iced coffee and vanilla. The coffee keeps it from smelling like dessert.
Good to know: it’s too much for a warm office. Plenty of men wear it too.
6. Viktor&Rolf Spicebomb (eau de toilette)
Notes: bergamot, grapefruit, pink pepper, saffron, cinnamon, vetiver, tobacco, leather
Typical price: €61 for 90 ml (list price €130)
Spicebomb smells like cinnamon and pepper warming up next to a leather jacket. It’s cosy, confident and the cheapest bottle here per ml.
Good to know: skip it in a heatwave. Spice and tobacco feel heavy above 25°C.
Weddings, graduations and special events
For a long day in nice clothes, these are the best fragrances under 100 euros to last from the ceremony to the last dance.
7. YSL Libre (eau de parfum)
Notes: lavender, mandarin, blackcurrant, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, cedar, musk
Typical price: €60–62 for 30 ml; about €86 for 50 ml
Libre pairs lavender, a note you usually find in men’s scents, with orange blossom and creamy vanilla. It sits at the soft, floral end of our Oriental & smoky family, without the smoke.
Good to know: A refillable version exists, so you can keep the bottle.
8. Valentino Born in Roma Uomo (eau de toilette)
Notes: violet leaf, salt, sage, ginger, vetiver, woods
Typical price: €70–75 for 50 ml (list price €100)
Born in Roma Uomo is salty, green and woody, a bit like a smart linen suit. It isn’t sweet, so it works for a daytime ceremony and the party afterwards.
Good to know: it’s a popular release, so you might not be the only one wearing it.
The gift bottle
When one of the best fragrances under 100 euros is a present, pick a style that’s hard to dislike.
9. Kayali Vanilla 28 (eau de parfum)
Notes: vanilla orchid, jasmine, tonka bean, brown sugar, amber woods, musk, patchouli
Typical price: €98 for 50 ml or €32 for 10 ml
Vanilla 28 is warm brown sugar and vanilla with a soft woody edge. It’s sold as a women’s fragrance, but anyone who loves vanilla can wear it.
Good to know: the 50 ml costs €1.96 per ml and the 10 ml €3.20. The small one still makes the safer gift.
When a cheaper bottle is just as good
You don’t need one of the best fragrances under 100 euros for every job. A €25 bottle is the smarter buy for:
- Summer and the gym: light citrus and aquatic scents fade fast at any price, so you’ll reapply anyway.
- Festivals: bags get lost and bottles get knocked over.
- A new scent family: test the style cheaply before you commit €80.
Our guide to the best affordable perfumes covers bottles under €40.
How to never pay full price
Even the best fragrances under 100 euros rarely need to cost the list price.
- Compare price per ml. Divide the price by the millilitres. Spicebomb’s 90 ml (€0.68 per ml) costs about a third of Black Opium’s 30 ml (€2.18 per ml).
- Check the “van” price. In the Netherlands, a crossed-out price must be the lowest price the shop charged in the previous 30 days. The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) found misleading discounts at 18 of 24 large retailers it checked in 2025.
- Look at gift sets. A Luna Rossa Carbon set with 100 ml plus a 10 ml travel spray was listed at about €70, less than the bottle alone elsewhere.
- Start small. A 10 ml, a decant (a sample poured from a full bottle) or a tester in plain packaging lets you try a scent for less. Buy from sellers with solid reviews.
- Compare three shops. During our check, the same bottle differed by up to €30 between shops.

Fragrances under €100: FAQ
Which of the best fragrances under 100 lasts the longest?
Black Opium, Libre and Vanilla 28 usually last seven hours or more. Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt is the shortest at three to four hours. Dry skin and hot weather shorten wear time for any scent.
Is eau de parfum always stronger than eau de toilette?
Usually, but concentrations overlap between brands. Even among the best fragrances under 100 euros, a dense eau de toilette like Spicebomb can outlast a light eau de parfum.
Is a 30 ml bottle enough?
For most people, yes. One spray is roughly 0.1 ml, so 30 ml gives about 300 sprays, or three months at three sprays a day.
Our verdict
Each of our nine best fragrances under 100 euros has a job. Bleu Noir is the daily signature. Luna Rossa Carbon and Chance Eau Tendre handle lectures and the office. Spicebomb and Black Opium cover date night, and Libre or Born in Roma Uomo will get you through a wedding.
For summer, the gym or a festival, a cheaper bottle does the job. Whatever you choose, test it on your own skin and check the price per ml before you pay.
